| The Senator Hand Date was a winner in the vote for the ''Goldene Unruh 2010'' in February and ''Watch of the Year 2010''. On Thursday 18th March 2010, numerous representatives from the watchmaking industry gathered in the Hotel Plaza in Basle to participate in the announcement of the winners of the ''Watch of the Year 2010''. For the 17th time in succession now, the specialist magazine ''Armbanduhren'', together with the ''Welt am Sonntag'', called upon its readers to vote for their favourite timepieces. A total of 159 timepieces were nominated in the category of men's watches. Obviously moved and with great pride, Günter Wiegand (2nd from left), Managing Director of Glashütte Original, accepted the coveted award on behalf of all the employees of the Saxon watch manufacturer. A total of 11,147 readers took part in the vote. Of these, 637 voted for the Senator Chronometer as winner. This means that the correct relationship of the displayed seconds and minutes is always retained. Principally, however, the timepiece won favour among the voting public due to its elegant aesthetics. Glashütte Original was very happy with its 1st place in the category of up to 5,000 EUR. This prize, awarded jointly by the ''Uhrenmagazin'' and by the news magazine ''Focus'' is presented in a total of five different categories. |
